Snow Patrol Weekend Outlook... March 30 and 31
Tuesday of this past week, the snow conditions at Stratton were the best all season. The snow was like butter cream icing. The snow banks on the roads were higher than they have been in years.
Conditions will be excellent at Mohawk, Catamount, Jiminy, Butternut, Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre if you are looking to go for a day trip. Saturday is the best bet, as it looks like there might be some rain on Sunday. Plus, a couple of areas will not be open Easter day (call ahead or check their websites).
Skiing in Vermont will be great this weekend and, although I can't speak for the other areas, I know that Stratton plans to be open til April 14. With the cold air continuing for at least another 10 days, skiing should continue to be good all the way through that period.
So, if you held off on making skiing plans because the calendar says it is spring, you should really reconsider. Temperatures are colder than normal this time of year, but very comfortable for skiing and conducive to high quality snow.
